June 2007

Meredith had her 1 year old well-child check this week. Here are her stats:

Height: 30.75 inches, 90%
Weight: 21.5 pounds, 70%
Head Circumference: 75%

She was given a clean bill of health and the doctor commented on how well she walked.

Here are a few select pics for your viewing pleasure.

Meredith enjoys playing with her leggos. Ok, to be honest, dad enjoys building and Meredith enjoys tearing the creations down. I like to call this sculpture rainbow cactus. It is no more.

Meredith will push the buttons on the remote, especially when something exciting is about to happen.

For Nancy's birthday, we got an ice cream cake. It turns out, Meredith really, really likes ice cream cake.

Here is Meredith playing in her new tunnel on her birthday.

Meredith also got a pair of big girl shoes from aunt Kate.

Here is her ball popping toy. When you turn it on.....chaos!

Resting on the pillow like a big girl.

I'll take a moment to brag on Nancy. She spent the weekend building a new trash can landing and planted a new garden. Nice job N!

Happy Birthday, Meredith!

Thank goodness Aunt Kate sent me this bikini - it's hot out here!
Dad shows Meredith how it's done.
Meredith's First Cake

Isn't it great when $1.49 can bring this much happiness?!
My first lego blocks!

And one of her favorite presents . . . a tent/tunnel.

To all who sent cards and gifts, Meredith says Thank you!

Diaper Dash 2007

In addition to the 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon, and full marathon, the Flying Pig race featured the Piglet series. This included sprints in several age classes. Meredith ran the Diaper Dash, a race for babies. Rory ran in the Piglet 2-3 year old race. I have some cute videos of both races which will be published soon.
.
Meredith did well even though she froze up at the starting line. There was another baby who stood up and sprinted to the finish. I suspect performance enhancing formula was involved. Anyway, I'm not bitter. We had a fun time and in the end all of the kids were #1.
.
Meredith attempts to psych out the competition at the starting line.
The race is on! Meredith gets a quick start, then stops to check out the scenery.
Hmmm....maybe walking will be faster. Nope!
A little help from daddy gets her moving.
Almost there!
Look at me, I'm #1!
Meredith and daddy get a much deserved rest after such a grueling race.
Here is Rory after her 50 yard dash. Nice medal.
Rory gives her medal a kiss!

Flying Pig Marathon

Recently, the Smith Family took a trip to Cincinnati, OH for the Flying Pig Race. Nancy and her mom Sue competed in the 1/2 marathon. Cousins Laurie and Karen ran the full marathon while Aunt Carol walked the full marathon. Congrats to all who participated.

Here is the start of the Flying Pig 5K. Max and Mitchell participated and did very well.

Max and Mitchell are in here somewhere, but there were too many runners to actually find them.

Ron, Grandmommy, Mitchell, Josh, and Meredith wait at mile 8.5 to root for all of the runners in the 1/2 and full marathon. This is the point that the 2 races divide.

It was kind of cold, so Meredith was bundled up as she cheered for her mom.

After the race, Meredith checks out the runner's hardware. Nice medal Nancy!

Meredith enjoys a quick swing in downtown Cincy with mom while Grammy rests in the nice warm sun.

Karen's daughter Rory relaxes in her big sister's chair.

Oh no! Not waffles again!

Just kidding. I love waffles.

Rory and Conner have fun in the sandbox.

Finally, we went out to support Max at his baseball game. Here he is playing first base. They won the game 6-1.
The family came out to support Max.

March 2007

As I was putting together the last few blog entries, several pictures stood out...Here are my favorite pics from the last 2 months...enjoy.
Meredith tries to play it straight...
She is usually very goofy, however.
She has explored all of the downstairs now.
And still likes crawling up on her parents.
Meredith loves her new activity table...
And she loves a good book.
She enjoys playing by herself
Most of all, she loves having fun!

Swim Lessons

Today, Meredith had her first swim lessons ever. This was a present from her grandparents Grammy and Grandpa Gasper. She was a little cautious at first, but soon was laughing, splashing, and kicking. Looking forward to next week when Mommy gets in the water!
Meredith liked playing at the side of the pool slapping the tiles.
She met several new friends. Pictured is "Ivan."

Daddy had a great time also (even if his chest was so white it looked like he was living in a cave).

Meredith loved it when her dad would go under water and blow bubbles.
